Our Story

The story of South Potomac Church has always been about bringing people to a personal loving, faith-filled relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ. It’s never been about us, it’s always been about Him. From the smallest group of seven families meeting in a local Legion Hall, to moves to schools and eventually to owning property and buildings, it continues to be all about the pursuit of the One who loves us. We are grateful the Lord provided us with access to our current location in White Plains. The facility was completed and we opened doors for public services in December, 2001.

The strength of SPC’s character is not seen in beautiful grounds or well-kept buildings, but in the hearts and lives of the people we serve. We have been blessed with the opportunity to minister in some of the most under-served areas of Charles County. Our prayer is to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our community and throughout the world. While we love serving here in Charles County, we have also been blessed with the chance to send teams in response to events like Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy.  God has opened doors for teams to serve for the good of others in South East Asia, South America and East Africa. And we have ongoing mission efforts on five continents. God has been good to us – we simply want to pass it along!

Even though we’ve had some incredible faith-building chapters in the life of our church and we have seen God do incredible things, we believe our best days are in front of us. We know, too, that we are blessed, simply for the privilege of being a blessing. We know we cannot out-give God! He will not be outdone!
